Fairhope Beaches

Some of the most scenic and romantic beaches in the South are located within a two-mile walk of The Pulitzer and downtown Fairhope. You’re sure to remember a lazy afternoon on one of these comfortable shaded beaches enjoying a book or a  magazine or just gazing out over the bay. Don’t be surprised if the coastal environment inspires you to write a best-selling novel, or simply delight in a nap that will relax you for days.

Picnic on the beach:
Order a box lunch from Maryann’s, grab a bottle of wine from Greer’s Fresh Market across the street from The Pulitzer, pick a book by a local author from Page and Palette, and hop in a  Pulitzer Town Cart to take a ride to one of the many gorgeous beaches in town where you can enjoy a lazy afternoon under the shade of one of Fairhope’s giant Spanish Moss-drenched oak tress. You’ll love the view of the sailboats out on the bay, and you’re sure to return rejuvenated and recharged after this quintessential languid Southern coastal experience.

Stroll the Boardwalk:
Take advantage of our Pulitzer Town Cart, and enjoy a leisurely journey to the Point Clear Boardwalk for an energizing morning or afternoon stroll. Don’t forget to visit Punta Clara Kitchen for some homemade chocolates, and, if you drive, it’s also a good place to park and begin your Boardwalk tour. On your return trip a tour of the Confederate Rest Cemetery at the Lakewood Golf Course will take you back to Antebellum days, and you can complete your outing with a tour of the grounds of the Grand Hotel and a true southern Mint Julep at its Bird Cage Lounge.
